The Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) provides high-quality, patient-centered medical care to infants, children, and adolescents in an urgent care setting. This role involves assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of acute illnesses and minor injuries while collaborating with supervising physicians (as needed) and healthcare staff to ensure efficient, compassionate care for pediatric patients.
The provider must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, managing a high volume of patients, and making sound clinical decisions for a wide range of non-life-threatening pediatric conditions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive medical evaluations including obtaining medical histories and conducting physical examinations for pediatric patients.
- Diagnose and treat a wide variety of acute pediatric illnesses and minor injuries such as respiratory infections, fever, gastrointestinal illness, minor fractures, lacerations, and allergic reactions.
- Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests including laboratory studies, rapid testing, and ordering imaging when appropriate. (No imaging services are available on site)
- Perform minor procedures including but not limited to suturing, splinting, incision and drainage, wound care, and foreign body removal.
- Prescribe medications and treatments in accordance with state regulations and practice protocols.
- Provide patient and caregiver education regarding diagnosis, treatment plans, medications, and follow-up care.
- Collaborate with supervising physicians and other healthcare providers regarding patient care and complex cases as needed.
- Accurately and timely document all patient encounters in eClinicalWorks our electronic medical record (EMR).
- Maintain compliance with practice policies, clinical protocols, and applicable regulatory standards.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and staff meetings as requested.
- Assist in maintaining a clean, safe, and organized clinical environment.
- Support a positive and collaborative team culture among clinical and administrative staff.
- Master’s or Doctoral degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program.
- Current, unrestricted NP or PA license in Maryland
- Current DEA registration (or ability to obtain prior to start date).
- Board certification as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, Family Nurse Practitioner, or Physician Assistant.
- BLS certification (or willingness to obtain within required timeframe, on site certification available).
- Minimum 3+ years of pediatric urgent care, or pediatrics emergency medicine experience preferred.
- Ability to perform minor procedures commonly seen in urgent care settings.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Frequent standing, walking, and moving between exam rooms.
- Ability to lift and position pediatric patients when necessary.
- Exposure to communicable diseases and bodily fluids consistent with healthcare settings.
- Shifts are scheduled for either 6 or 12 hours in the following format: 7am-1pm, 1pm-7pm, 7am-7pm, and occasionally 8am-2pm.
- Ability to work evenings up until 7:00pm and Saturdays (in rotation)
